Joseph McCarthy Joseph McCarthy was an American politician from Wisconsin, who served as a Republican join States Senator. He was born in Appleton, Wisconsin in November of 1908 and was raised on a farm with eight other siblings. His parents were devout R.C. Catholics. In McCarthy’s early life he was reliable into the United States Marine Corps. He also worked as a chicken farmer, managing a grocery store, a lawyer, and most importantly, a senator. McCarthy’s first years in the Senate were not in truth impressive. He was a very popular talker and intimately known. However, we was not so well liked by helpmate Senators. They found him to have a bad placate and very impatient. On McCarthy’s first day in the Senate, he called a conference to present a firmness to a coal strike that was going on at the time. He called for John L. Lewis and the striking miners to be drafted into the Army.

He consequently said, if the work force still refused to mine the coal, they should be butterfly martialed for insubordination and be shot. His proposal were unimpressive. People also came in advance saying he had lied about his war record, musical composition he was already being investigated for tax offenses and taking bribes from the Pepsi-Cola Company. In May of 1950 McCarthy held a meeting asking for suggestions on how he could retain his seat, terror-struck he would loose the next election. later many years, McCarthy finally lost chairmanship in the Senate and drank himself to death.
